News is through that with William Hill in partnership with the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) is to get off on its sixth season. This is part of a non professional series of events that is looked forward to and has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Play begins with the two day William Hill event, the English Amateur Poker Championship. This is to take place at the G Casino in Coventry over Easter Weekend; April 7th & 8th. Other amateur events include: Welsh Amateur Poker Championship at Cardiff on May 27-27th, The Irish APC at the Macau Sporting Club on July 7-8th, the prestigious European APC held at Nottingham on Aug 24-25th, and The Scottish to be held on Oct 13-14th at Alea Casino Glasgow. The UK APC on Nov30th and the UK Home International Poker Championship on Dec 1-2nd both venues to be announced, the UK Team Poker Championship takes place at G Casino Luton on January 26-27, 2013 and the World APC at the DTD Nottingham over March 28th to April 1st.  That is quite a lot for our amateur players to look forward to in the coming months.

The Russian pro, who also took 15th at the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, collected €450,000 for his win in the €3,500 buy-in tournament, increasing his yearly earnings to close to $1.5 million. He is now just a WSOP bracelet short of accomplishing poker’s Triple Crown, a feat that has only been achieved by Roland de Wolfe, Gavin Griffin, Jake Cody and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
